Currently under construction and projected to open in the Spring of 2013, the Mitchell Park Community Center provides the City of Palo Alto with a new environmentally-friendly community complex. The 15,000-square-foot Community Center adjacent to Middlefield Road is part of a larger 41,000-square-foot campus including the Mitchell Park Library. Strategically placed to maximize natural sunlight, the building surrounds a picturesque courtyard featuring a mature California Coastal Live Oak tree.

The building design will meet the “Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design” (LEED) Gold certification. LEED is an internationally recognized certification system that measures how well a building performs including energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts.

On July 1, 2012 applications for the Mitchell Park Community Center will be available online, by mail or can be picked up at the Lucie Stern or Cubberley Community Centers during regular business hours, 8:30am to 5:30pm. Search facility availability. Rooms may be reserved up to 12 months in advance of your event.

El Palo Alto Room (Ballroom)

El Palo Alto Room features hardwood floors and built-in audio-visual technology making this room ideal for dances, parties, and weddings. This large 4,000 square-foot room will accommodate 250 seated or 500 standing guests and is connected to a catering kitchen for your convenience (rented separately).

El Palo Alto East or West

If the El Palo Alto Room is too large for your event, you may wish to use half the room which can be separated by an attractive partition wall.

Adobe North Tech Lab

The Adobe North Tech Lab measures 835 square feet and features a built-in Smart Board, audio-visual technology, and seating for 45 making it ideal for meetings or presentations. For larger groups, the Tech Lab may be combined with the Adobe South meeting Room to accommodate 90 seated guests.

Adobe South or Matadero Rooms

The Adobe South and Matadero Meeting Rooms both measure over 900 square feet and will accommodate 45 seated guests, making either room ideal for meetings, classes or small gatherings.
