The Information Technology Department (ITD) is an award-winning organization that is the centralized provider of technology solutions to the City of Palo Alto. The department provides essential infrastructure services such as data storage and Internet connectivity; hardware and application deployment, support and maintenance; project management services; information security services; and a governance model for aligning city goals, allocation of funds, and technology enablement.

Our Culture

The staff's background includes military, law enforcement, software development & engineering, project management, education, accounting, NASA AMES GIS, demographic/social research, and customer service among others. We have a pilot, several coaches, athletes and even a magician. Credentials and Degrees include PMP, Microsoft, SAP, GISP, MBA and PhD. We strive for continuing education and training, and offer our employees opportunities to participate in areas where they can learn and grow.
Outside Interests
Diverse personal interest keeps our organization interesting. In our staff we have surfers, runners, musicians, LEGO and coin collectors, photographers, bakers, brewers, and gamers. Many love to cook and bake not only for their family but for our meeting functions. Others enjoy their weekends wine tasting, dancing, hunting and golfing.
